Before becoming a school counselor, Mrs. Dial gained valuable experience working in nursing homes as a Certified Nursing Assistant and later as a Behavioral Specialist. She now serves in multiple roles within the district, including Advanced Opportunities/Dual Credit Coordinator, District Homeless Liaison, and Site Coordinator for both IDLA and Shelley Online.

When she’s not working with students, Mrs. Dial enjoys reading as much as possible and spending time with her husband and doodles.

 

Rebecca Denning LPC

Rebecca Denning is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a school counseling certification and a specialized emphasis in trauma. Her professional background allows her to support students' academic, emotional, and social needs with compassion and expertise. Rebecca earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Math Education from Brigham Young University–Idaho and her Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Northwest Nazarene University (NNU). She most recently served as the school counselor at Roberts Elementary for two years and previously taught secondary math at Hillcrest and Thunder Ridge High Schools for nine years.

With over a decade of experience in both elementary and secondary education, Rebecca understands the unique challenges students face at every stage of development. She is passionate about helping students build resilience, develop strong coping skills, and achieve their personal and academic goals.

Rebecca has been married to her husband for 25 years and is the proud mother of five children and grandmother to three. She enjoys spending time with her family camping, hiking, and traveling.

Melissa is a proud 2002 graduate of Shelley High School and holds two degrees from Idaho State University. She brings a wealth of knowledge and valuable insight into scholarships, college majors, and the college application process. Students are encouraged to stop by the counseling office with any questions — she’s here to help!

Outside of school, she enjoys photography, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her children.
